Log in Errors:
You should always log in by going to my.ncedcloud.org. Do not continue to use the old Powerschool site. It may work once a day, but once cookies get stored on your browser, it will produce error codes.
If you get a "Bad Request" message or the screen shown below, it's likely because you "bookmarked" the Logon Screen or used the "back button". To get to the IAM Service (to change/reset your password for example), go to my.ncedcloud.org. To get to any of the applications you normally access, click on the link or icon for that application. If you try to go directly to the login screen by bookmarking it, the IAM Service won't know where you want to go (e.g. PowerSchool, Google Apps for Education, etc.). That's why you get an error. WCS has the log in screen on the district website under the employee links.
Web Browser Issues:
Google Chrome
There are a couple of Chrome settings that may help:
- 'Continue where I left off’ - attempts to re-establish all of your sessions when you closed the browser. This can result in a continuation of a session OR can result in some very cryptic errors within the Service Provider. Change this under Settings > On startup
- ‘Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed’ - Disable this setting under Settings > Show advanced settings… > System > uncheck the item.
In addition, other users have reported that clearing cached images & files has also helped: Ctrl-Shift-Del (or Menu > More tools... > Clear browsing data...) and clear only Cached images and files.
Adobe Flash
NCEdCloud uses Flash. These updates need to be kept current on your computer on all browsers. Explorer and Chrome have built in updaters and will install them when downloaded, Firefox will not. If you are experiencing errors with Flash read below.
Firefox web browser and Adobe Flash Player.
Internet Explorer 11 and Google Chrome do not seem to be affected by this issue regarding out-of-date Flash installations as they have a built in updater.
The newer versions of Firefox are utilizing a block list for outdated browser extensions. For most web sites, especially those using Flash, Firefox will show a message saying something along the lines of "Adobe Flash Player is vulnerable and should be updated. Click here to activate this plugin."
The NCEdCloud login portal uses Flash. For some reason, Firefox does NOT show the familiar "out of date plugin" message at the login page. NCEdCloud just won't log in.
To fix this particular problem, you have three choices: Change browsers to Explorer 11, update Flash (recommended), OR set Firefox to stop automatically blocking outdated plugins by following these steps.
To turn this annoying "feature" off in Firefox:
- Open Firefox and in the URL bar, type in: about:config
- Click the button that says, "I'll be careful, I promise!"
- In the search box at the top, type in: extensions.blocklist.enabled
- Double-click the list item you'll see to toggle the setting from "true" to "false".
- Restart Firefox
- The NCEdCloud login portal will now work correctly.
